ON FASHION’S BIGGEST NIGHT THE MET GALA A-LISTERS PULL OUT ALL THE STOPS TO SHOW OFF STUNNING STYLE
Zendaya’s arrival on the steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art was one of the most eagerly anticipated moments of the night
The title of The Costume Institute’s spring exhibition at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art is Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. And this year’s Met Gala did just that, presenting A-list celebrities in an array of breathtakingly elegant and avant-garde gowns showcasing the very best of haute couture.
At the annual style extravaganza, which traditionally takes place on the first Monday in May, the event’s co-hosts Jennifer Lopez and Zendaya modelled intricate hand-sewn dresses that took fashion commentators’ breath away.
Zendaya’s showstopping arrival on the museum’s steps was one of the most eagerly anticipated moments of the night, with the actress displaying her impeccable taste in custom Maison Margiela Couture.

TOP BUSINESSWOMAN AND ‘DRAGONS’ DEN’ STAR DEBORAH MEADEN ON LIVING THE GOOD LIFE IN THE COUNTRY AND WHY CHILDREN SHOULD LEARN ABOUT MONEY
‘We’re handing teenagers a tough legacy economically and planet-wise’
As one of Britain’s most high-profile businesswomen, Deborah Meaden’s talent for spotting an opportunity and making money from it has turned her into a household name, as well as a multi-millionaire. Yet while she could easily afford to indulge in all the trappings of fame and fortune, the Dragons’ Den star prefers to live an altogether simpler existence.
Rather than splashing out on private jets, a fleet of fast cars or a wardrobe full of designer clothes, Deborah says her only extravagance is the farmhouse she and her husband Paul Farmer have lovingly and ethically renovated, and where they live with a menagerie of cats, dogs, horses, pigs, geese, ex-battery hens and a flock of rescue sheep.
“I’m not at all extravagant,” says Deborah,…
LADY LOUISE STYLE AND SPORT TROTS IN THE FAMILY
Lady Louise Windsor was in the driving seat as she attended the final day of the Royal Windsor Horse Show, one of her favourite events of the year.
The 20-year-old daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh was taking a weekend break from the University of St Andrews, where she is studying English literature, to join her parents and enjoy the sunshine at the annual event.
She showed her glove for the sport, too, as she took part in the carriage driving (right) wearing a taupe double-breasted blazer, layered over a cream shirt and patterned neckerchief. The King’s niece added a touch of elegance to her jacket with a yellow carnation pinned to the lapel. Completing her look, she donned a straw fedora and a patterned scarf by Parisian label Hermès…
THE DUKE OF WESTMINSTER PRE-WEDDED BLISS ON VISIT TO CHESTER CHARITIES
With their nuptials barely four weeks away, the Duke of Westminster and Olivia Henson are no doubt fully focused on making sure their fairytale wedding goes according to plan.
But that didn’t stop the young couple from paying a visit to three different charities in Chester city centre this week – popping in to their wedding venue as part of the trip.
His Grace, 33, and his bride-to-be Olivia, 31, wanted to see how Cheshire Dance, Storyhouse and the Cathedral Music Trust are benefiting from the Duke’s charitable organisation, The Westminster Foundation.
Hugh and his future wife (together below right), who works as a senior account manager for B Corp and luxury food importer Belazu, stopped at a parent-toddler music programme at Chester Cathedral, where the couple will become husband and wife on…
PRINCESS BEATRICE REVEALS PRIDE IN MUM’S RESILIENCE
For Princess Beatrice, her mother Sarah, Duchess of York (pictured together left), is not just a mum, but also a towering inspiration and a “phenomenal icon” – much like the New York landmark Beatrice visited last week.
The 35-year-old elder daughter of Sarah and Prince Andrew opened up about her mother’s health journey after her breast cancer diagnosis last June, which was followed six months later by news of a malignant melanoma.
Beamed in from New York’s Empire State Building terrace (left), the Princess appeared on This Morning for her first live televised interview and spoke of her mother’s bravery and how she and her sister Princess Eugenie, 34, are “so proud” of how far she has come.
“She’s such a phenomenal icon,” said Beatrice from the Big Apple.
“As a mum she’s been…
PRINCESS EUGENIE RARE PICTURES GIVE SNAPSHOT OF FAMILY LIFE
Family life is everything to Princess Eugenie. And when her beloved husband Jack Brooksbank celebrated his 38th birthday last week, she marked the occasion by sharing two previously unseen photographs of the couple and their adored sons on social media.
Eugenie – who has August, three, and Ernest, 11 months, with Jack – began the Instagram post with a romantic photo of herself and her businessman husband at last year’s inaugural winter gala for the Anti-Slavery Collective (right). Dressed to the nines, the duo beam happily at each other. But the real treat came when the 34-year-old Princess shared a second image that showed Jack draping seaweed over his head while playing with August on a beach (far left).
The third snapshot showed Eugenie and Jack posing with their arms in the…
JOHANNES RADEBE ENJOYS A STRICTLY LONDON DATE
Their delight in each other in the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom was clear for everyone to see and Johannes Radebe and Annabel Croft (together above far right) were overjoyed to catch up and cha-cha-chat at the London Palladium.
Former tennis player Annabel, 57, was a special guest at the 37-year-old dancer’s new touring show House of Jojo, which is waltzing around the UK.
“Thank you so much for the honour to dance with you here at the Palladium,” said Annabel, joining Johannes on stage. “This is beyond anybody’s dream, but to dance with you, Johannes, has been extraordinary.”
She added: “You are such a special person. You sprinkle your magic everywhere and I’m so thrilled to see it.”
Also hotfooting it to the Palladium were former Strictly dancer Pasha Kovalev and his TV presenter…
JEREMY CLARKSON REAPS THE REWARD OF SWAPPING CARS FOR A LIFE ON THE FARM
Petrolhead Jeremy Clarkson surprised everyone when he quit city life to herd animals on Diddly Squat Farm, but he may be there till the cows come home.
The former Top Gear star has turned his life-change into the hit show Clarkson’s Farm, which he loves making because it’s “effortless”, he said: “I don’t have to pretend to be someone else… We’re just ourselves.”
However, series three, which is now on Amazon Prime, was not so much fun after several of Jeremy’s piglets died shortly after birth, leaving him and girlfriend Lisa Hogan (together right) in tears.
“I’ve always liked pigs and I thought it’d be fun to have them,” Jeremy, 64, says when HELLO! pays a visit to the Cotswolds farm. “Then they just died in alarming numbers and it was heartbreaking. I’ve…
SALMA HAYEK LADY IN RED STEALS SHOW AT FRENCH STATE BANQUET
There may have been a First Lady present, but Salma Hayek was clearly the leading lady at a state banquet at the Élysée Palace in Paris.
The 57-year-old Mexican-born actress and her husband, French businessman François-Henri Pinault (together below), were among the guests welcoming Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan to France for a two-day visit.
Exuding Hollywood glamour in a blood-red, floor-length tulle gown cinched at the waist, Salma met the guests of honour after she and François-Henri shook hands with their host, French President Emmanuel Macron (all above).
Other guests included French composer Jean-Michel Jarre and his wife, Chinese actress Gong Li, and Delphine Arnault, the chief executive of Christian Dior Couture.
It was a double-bill for Salma and François-Henri as days earlier, the happy couple had celebrated their…
PHOEBE WALLER-BRIDGE IS FLYING HIGH AT THE LONDON PREMIERE OF LATEST FILM
After finding fame as Fleabag, Phoebe Waller-Bridge has a new character to identify with – and this one is just as flighty.
Phoebe, 38, stars as butterfly Blossom in the new live-action/animated fantasy comedy IF, about a little girl, Bea, who can see everyone’s imaginary friends, known as IFs.
Speaking at the London premiere, where she was photographed with Blossom (above), Phoebe said of her character: “She’s quite a panicker underneath the surface, even though she tries to keep everyone calm all the time. I can sort of relate to the little panicky bit, anyway.
“But also she’s chic, she’s got these cute little ballet shoes. She’s got a bit of attitude, she’s a complex lady – I like her a lot.”
Blossom wasn’t the only IF star joining Phoebe on the red carpet…
