Their Week From Hell
Peter Stefanovic is reeling following the backlash over his Sky News interview with Keegan Payne, the winner of the Northern Territory’s Million Dollar Fish competition.
Pete, 42, was criticised for bringing up an unrelated and historic claim against the 19-year-old Indigenous man, pertaining to two stolen vehicles. No criminal charges were laid and the claims were not substantiated.
New Idea has learnt that the drama has also taken its toll on Pete’s wife, Sylvia Jeffreys.
“She’s been rocked to the core by this whole fiasco,” our source says. “Sylvia is all about living under the radar and this has brought way too much unwanted attention their way. She’s hurting for Pete.”
Pete and Sylvia, 38, married in 2017 and share two young sons, Oscar and Henry.
“Sylvia wants nothing more…
Hey Hey… Is Back!
Classic TV show HeyHey It’sSaturdaymay be primed for another comeback if former host Daryl Somers gets his way! The star revealed his plans to keep HeyHey’s legacy alive by turning the variety show’s best moments into a tour!
Speaking to the Herald Sun, Daryl, 72, said he was toying with creating a showcase that featured archival clips from throughout the show’s 28-year run.
“In essence, after 12 years of digitising the old analogue tapes of Hey Hey,we have an enormous archive of precious memories, and most importantly, fun,” Daryl said.
He explained the idea came about via the show’s Facebook fan page, where suggestions were made about Daryl doing a “tour with the archive”.
“It’s not out of the question,” Daryl added.…
Britney’s Bad News Boyfriend?
Britney Spears hasn’t had much luck when it comes to romance – and pals worry her latest love interest isn’t going to change that! The 42-year-old singer has been romantically linked to Paul Soliz as new fears have been sparked for her welfare.
On May 2, a barefoot Britney was seen outside the Chateau Marmont hotel in LA after paramedics were called in the early hours of the morning. The ‘Circus’ singer was seen looking dishevelled as she exited the hotel wrapped in a blanket and flanked by security and her ‘boyfriend’, Paul.
Following the hotel incident, the pop star took to Instagram to downplay concerns, claiming that she had simply suffered a sprained ankle.
Since then, Paul’s ex Nicole Mancilla has spoken to the Daily Mail alleging that Paul,…
Ada’s ex-partner Speaks Out
Just a few days after Ada Nicodemou’s new romance with Home and Away co-star James Stewart was revealed, her ex-boyfriend uploaded a social media post that raised many eyebrows due to its content and timing.
On May 6, Adam Rigby, who dated Ada for eight years, shared an Instagram post with his followers that read: “Live each moment with integrity.” The tile was soundtracked by Billy Joel’s break-up anthem ‘Honesty.’
As reported by New Idea, Ada, 46, and Adam, 54, split at the end of 2023. It’s believed Ada and James, 48, only recently started dating. Their Home and Away characters Leah and Justin tied the knot on screen earlier this year.…
Cher tells Why I Turned Down Elvis!
Cher has confessed she once turned down a date with music legend Elvis Presley!
In a new interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the ‘Believe’ singer explained why she knocked back ‘The King’.
“It was because I was nervous and I knew of the people around him,” Cher, 77, said. “And it wasn’t that they were bad people, it’s just that I was kind of nervous of his reputation.”
Despite previously being in high-profile marriages to Sonny Bono and Gregg Allman, Cher added that she’s always felt “really shy when I’m not working and kind of shy around men”.
In the same interview, Cher opened up about why she now opts to date younger men – like her current beau Alexander ‘AE’ Edwards, who is 39 years her junior!
“The…
Abbie Cornish Transforms Into Anna Nicole!
Aussie actress Abbie Cornish is the spitting image of the late Anna Nicole Smith on-set of her new movie, Trust Me, I’m a Doctor.
The upcoming project is based on a book about Anna Nicole’s LA physician Dr Sandeep Kapoor. He was cleared of felonies relating to the 39-year-old’s untimely death in 2007 from an accidental drug overdose
Joining Abbie, 41, in the film are Terminator icon Linda Hamilton, who plays attorney Ellyn Garafalo, and Kal Penn. The Harold & Kumar actor takes on the lead role as Dr Kapoor and is also an executive producer.
Recent photos from the Toronto production show Abbie bearing an uncanny likeness to the late Guess model. She was styled in Anna Nicole’s memorable 2005 LA Pride parade ensemble.

A family’s fear ‘Get Our Dad Home’
Last month, Sydney engineer Robert Pether marked his 49th birthday in a cramped Iraq jail cell, surrounded by 30 prisoners.
No cake, no presents and little hope; just quick phone messages of love from his desperately worried wife and children, a continent away.
It’s the third birthday the anguished father has spent behind bars. Sentenced to five years on a fraud conviction, he maintains his innocence.
For his wife Desree, the pain of being separated from “soulmate” Robert is almost too much to bear.
“Staying strong for our kids, who miss their dad dreadfully, is hard. I am broken,” Desree tells New Idea from their home in central Ireland. “On Robert’s birthday, we got to speak to him on the phone briefly, and tried our best to make him feel…
Charles’ had enough No Time For Harry!
With King Charles being medically cleared to resume public-facing royal duties – for now – it’s hard not to interpret his decision to skip seeing his youngest son as anything other than a snub!
On May 8, the King greeted and mingled with 8000 guests at the first Buckingham Palace garden party of the season. As this was happening, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex was just a 10-minute drive away, attending a ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral to mark a decade of his Invictus Games.
Sources say Harry tried for more than a month to set up a meeting with his father during his flying visit back to London. However, Charles denied his request, despite the fact that he granted his California-based son a brief meeting in February when his…
Mary’s Brave Confession ‘Being Queen Is Overwhelming!’
The past few months have proven to be challenging for Denmark’s Queen Mary. And it seems the usually stoic consort was finding it hard to hide the pressure she has felt in her new role at a Swedish state banquet on May 6.
Dressed in full regalia, Mary, 52, was seen looking emotional as she left the gala, which was hosted on a yacht by Sweden’s King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia. As Mary disembarked the vessel behind her husband King Frederik, it appeared she discreetly wiped something, perhaps tears, from her eye.
The trip marked Fred and Mary’s first official state visit to their Swedish neighbours since taking over the Danish throne. The two-day trip diarised 13 separate engagements into the couple’s jam-packed schedule.
“The relentless pace seemed to…
